The 125th birthday of Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda Ji was celelebrated with lot of joy, enthusiasm and reverence. The program for the day was as follows:
Prabhat Pheri- 7:00 AM- 8:00 AM
Special Meditation & Pushpanjali- 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
Clothes Distribution - 11:30 AM
Guru Langer - 12:00 Noon onwards
Prabhat Pheri - by the grace of God and Guru the Palaki for Gurudeva was very special this time, decorated with flowers, silken cloth and golden net and beautiful golden beading. The Palaki had a pretty umbrella on top all decorated with the innoivative ideas of devotees. On this cold chilly day of Lucknow, the cosmic chants and bhajans were sung by devotees with dhaphali, manjeera and harmonium, covering a distance of 3 kms in a span of 50 minutes.At intervals devotees were doing pushpanjali on the Guru's photograph. Last 500 meters were covered by Guru behans with Palaki on their shoulders. Total number of devotees were 45.
Meditation and Pushpanjali: It had begun with Guru Stuti and a few minutes of an Audio CD " Awake in the Cosmic Dream". It was a blessed feeling to hear Guru Ji's voice that day when devotees were celebrating his birthday when he was in body. . Devotees enjoyed the bhajans and cosmic chants by the leader followed by pushpanjali of 215 devotees. After completion of pushpanjali on the request of devotees the leader continued with the chanting and bhajans for one more hour and many devotees kept sitting enjoying each moment with joy and reverence. It was really very special.
CHARITABLE ACTIVITY
Clothes Distribution: Clothes, woollen and cotton as well were distributed to 200 people inclusive of ladies, men, children and old aged.
Guru Langer: Almost 800 people, 500 non devotees and 300 devotees had Guru Prasad. The menu was chole, matar paneer, mixed vegetable, puri, rice and suji halwa.
CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES ON SUNDAY, 7th Jan 2018
1. Dental Camp: was organised at YSDK, Lucknow from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A prior information was sent to the near by slum dwellers as well as labourers in a vicinity of 2 kms by the devotees.They were given free consultation by 2 dental surgeons. A documentary film regarding oral hygiene was shown. A free tooth paste and brush was given to all telling them the correct way of brushing teeth.
2. Blanket Distribution: As the temprature of this part of North India is quite low, therefore it was decided that we distribute blankets to the needy. 150 soft blankets were distributed among admitted children in the chemotherapy ward ( Cancer ward )of King George's Medical University, Lucknow. Another 100 blankets were distributed to under-privileged class of the community in cold whether.
3. Guru Langer: Guru Prasad was arranged for 300 people. It was distributed to the attendants of poor patients coming to the hospital. The menu was rajma, raita, aaloo matar sabji, puri, rice, papad and suji halwa.
Commemoration Meditatation: On the occasion of Guru Janmotsav, a commemoration meditation of 6 hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM will be held on 14th Jan 2018.
