On the occasion of 126th Birth Anniversary of Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda, the program for 5th January was as follows
Prabhat Pheri: 7:00 -8:00 AM
Meditation & Pushpanjali: 9:00- 12:00 Noon
Clothes Distribution: 11:30 AM onwards
Guru Langer: 12:00 Noon onwards
Prabhat Pheri started from Kendra at 7:10 AM. Almost 65 devotees travelled a distance of approximately 4 kilometers in the vicinity of Vipul Khand in 50 minutes and kept singing bhajans and chants all along the way. Guru Bhais and Guru Behans as well lifted well decorated Guru Palaki on shoulders and kept showering flowers throughout the prabhat pheri.
Tea and snacks were served to all the devotees after coming back from prabhat pheri.
Meditation started at 9:00 AM. The Altar was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and garlands. The leader sang bhajans and cosmic chants with intermittent meditation phases. CD- Awake in the Cosmic dream was also played for a few minutes and all devotees could hear Guru Ji celebrating his birthday. Reading was beautifully chosen by the leader from Guru Ji’s literature and different magazines of YSS and SRF. In the end Pushpanjali was attended by 230 people sitting in the meditation hall. There were other devotees involved with other activities, so a total of 350 individuals must have attended the function.
Charitable activities
The nearby slum dwellers and labourers working on daily basis for construction of houses are invited for clothes distribution and Guru Langer a day before the function that is 4th Jan every year.
Clothes Distribution:
This activity is being carried out since the inauguration of our Dhyana Kendra in 2008. Devotees bring washed, clean clothes from their homes to be distributed to needy and poor.
Guru Langer:
Almost 800 needy enjoyed Guru langer and around 500 devotees inclusive of their family and friends had Guru Prasad. So total 1300 individuals had langer. There were white cholas, mixed vegetable, mattar paneer, purees, rice, papad and halwa in the menu.
Blanket Distribution:
125 good quality blankets were purchased by devotees and Kendra to be distributed to people in cold weather. Cancer female ward, Trauma Center, Septic ward and Cancer ward of children in Medical University where chosen for distribution. Some blankets were distributed to needy on the roads sleeping without warm clothes.

The MC members decided to give 10% discount on all YSS literature on this auspicious day.
