International Day of Yoga, June, 2016

The Preparations

On the occasion of second International Day of Yoga, a open house session was organised by the Kendra on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The event took place at the Kendra. Invitations cards were sent to all relatives, friends, colleagues, officials and other dignitaries. Three to four days prior to the event, staff and  students of nearby schools like Study Hall, Scholar's Home, Avadh School and IMRT Business School were invited. Neighbours were also cordially invited. Banners were put up at different places near the Kendra. The devotees were informed about the function through SMS and Whatsapp.

Guided Meditation and Video show

The meditation leader began with a prayer, welcomed the audience and introduced the Yoga techniques of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yoganandaji. The leader then demonstrated the right posture for meditation, sang a chant "Door of my Heart", conducted the guided meditation and led the participants in a visualization-based meditation. This was followed by explanation and demonstration of scientific healing techniques of sending healing vibrations to all those in need of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Video interview of Swami Ishwaranandaji which was telecasted by Delhi Doordarshan was then played.

Closing, and Book sales

After the closing prayer, the Secretary conveyed thanks to all the participants present in the hall for their kind visit and informed them about YSS Lesson membership, YSS literature, CDs and DVDs till 10th July 2016.They were invited for refreshment at the basement hall where books and other devotional items were displayed. The total attendance was 140. Out of this, new guests and invitees must have been around 50. The total book sale on this day was around Rs 9000.

Much Appreciated

The feedback from devotees and guests was very positive as many enjoyed the guided meditation with instructions on Paramahansaji’s preliminary breathing exercises such as 20:20:20 breathing, etc. The significance of healing prayers and its demonstration by the leader were specifically appreciated. The members of the Managing Committee received many compliments for arranging the function very well. The guests requested for repeating more of such events.
